Crusaders TTRPG
Crusaders TTRPG invites storytellers and adventurers into a world where the rules step aside and imagination takes center stage. Every aspect of the system has been crafted to welcome newcomers without sacrificing depth for veterans. Characters scale naturally: instead of poring over lengthy tables, you choose a class and customize its features in moments. Spellcasters manage their magic through an intuitive point‑pool, so every casting decision feels meaningful rather than cumbersome.
We've built this system to be dungeon master centric, meaning the dungeon master gets more control over combat narrative rather than simply waiting for monsters to die. By stripping away unnecessary complexity and spotlighting player agency, Crusaders TTRPG transforms gaming into an accessible adventure for all. If you've been looking for a Daggerheart, Pathfinder, or Dungeons and Dragons alternative, Crusaders TTRPG may be what you need.
Why Choose Crusaders TTRPG?
We know there is a ton of options when it comes to Tabletop Roleplaying games and just wanted to take a moment to thank you for considering playing Crusaders. Below is the list of features we implemented that we take pride in.

Exhaustion Vs Death Saving Throws
Exhaustion vs Death saving throws is a major change we've added to Crusaders TTRPG. By moving to exhaustion, you feel your character getting weaker and weaker as they fade to black.
One of the core reasons for this change is the realism and excitement behind death saves just isn't there. Did you roll higher than a 10, great you don't get a turn, but you're not dead. Wait for a healer to bring you back with 1 hit point.
Instead you get 10 levels of exhaustion and we have created supports and potions that make a difference to keep your character alive and in battles!

Skills Overhaul
We're gamers too. Having a good skill system that doesn't create a meta is important.
If your character has high Constitution, they should have a set of skills that help them endure challenges. High strength should be more than just athletics to help your party achieve success.
There are no passive perception, investigation, or insight. Your characters will need to use tactics to beat the challenges ahead of them.
Easily adapt your challenges to your party's skill level. Make challenges more difficult or easier based on how you perceive the situation with our Believability Score System (BS).
Sometimes a player roleplays or utilizes illusion magic to make a challenge easier and you want to reward them for that. With BS you can adapt a Difficulty Challenge (DC) to the number you think it should be. Find out more in the rules section of the site.

Bounded Accuracy Without Invulnerability
This is a D20 system with bounded accuracy just like Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition (DnD 5e), we like the system but we don't like how players have so heavily favored that it isn't fun for the DM.
We experimented with a 3d6 system; while it offers more consistent accuracy, the thrill of rolling a Natural 20 simply doesn’t compare. We also tried a 2d12 system, which brought a comparable level of monotony.
We decided to adopt a d20 system and enhanced it further by incorporating Precise weapon properties to support your critical fishing builds. However, we've significantly reduced armor effectiveness. Don't anticipate strolling into a dungeon and effortlessly tanking every monster inside.

Squares vs Feet
Crusaders TTRPG employs squares instead of feet, allowing you to utilize 10-foot squares for creating more dynamic and epic scenarios. Say goodbye to the hassle of adjusting ranges and fretting over whether a character's 5-foot reach can cover 10-foot squares.
Movement and Darkvision have also been significantly adjusted to enhance the effectiveness of your dungeon maps. Although a 120-foot Darkvision seems accurate in theory, it becomes challenging to create those unexpected moments on a battle map that measures just 30 x 30.
Night vision allows for basic sight within 1 square, while Darkvision extends this range to just 3 to 6 squares. As a result, Darkvision doesn't seem as essential; it's akin to having Flash in Pokémon, not a requirement, but certainly valued. Here's the best part, most species don't have it! Enjoy the uncertainty of darkness again.

DnD 5e Monster Porting
Have you bought numerous DnD 5e sourcebooks and truly adore your monsters? Wonderful! You can transfer them effortlessly. Here’s how:
Movement: Since movement is in squares your 30 ft speed is now 3.
Saving throws: We simplify monster conversion by using Reflex, Fortitude, and Cognitive instead of individual stats. Roll the highest of Reflex (DEX or STR), Cognitive (WIS or INT), or Fortitude (CHA or CON).
Skills: Our recommendation for skills is to look at the Crusaders skills on the monster sheet and choose 3 or 4 skills that your monster would be good at and add them to the sheet. Remember there's no passive perception, so skills like Awareness, Insight, Concentration, and Might are pretty good to include in your monster's stat block.
Keep all attacks, AC, and damage the same. Crusader characters have lower AC, so there's no need to buff your monsters to hit the high 20+ AC.
Run your encounters as usual and enjoy hitting more often, focusing on epic stories instead of constant misses like "the goblin missed again."

Child Friendly
Our goal was to create a simple system for children aged 6 to 10. If that's your goal it's crucial that everyone at the table is child-friendly, so we've removed adult themes like thievery and deception. Instead, we introduced Flattery and Trickery to keep it fun for kids and adults.
Our e20 anime art style embodies this vision, and we aspire to inspire more young adventurers to explore the world of Tabletop Roleplaying.
To enhance this experience, the core game of Crusaders TTRPG will always be available at no cost. While we may introduce fees for certain modules and adventures in the future, any new classes and species released for those settings will be included in the core game.
Engaging Character Classes
In Crusaders TTRPG, we believe that the heart of any great adventure game lies in its character classes and options. Whether you're drawn to the stealthy strategies of rogue, the potent spells of mage, or the resilient strength of noble fighters and brawlers, our diverse array of character options invites players to unleash their creativity and immerse themselves in a richly woven narrative.
Each class is thoughtfully crafted to offer unique abilities and playstyles, ensuring that every session feels fresh and exhilarating. So gather your friends, roll those dice, and embark on epic quests where your choices shape the story—because in Crusaders, every hero's journey is yours to shape!
